Since its inception, Cause Celeb!, the highly theatrical autobiography reading series, has garnered a cult-like following.  This acclaimed series, created by actresses Nancy Balbirer and Charlotte Booker features a roster of performers who read the juiciest, most self-aggrandizing passages from an eclectic mix of celebrity autobiographies.  Each week centers around a different theme.

NEW YORK TIMES, Monday January 19, 2004
"Tonight's show will be devoted to tales about Burt Reynolds as recounted by Loni Anderson, Tammy Wynette, Mamie Van Doren and others in their memoirs and autobiograhies.

"As we undressed, there was a windstorm of clothing flying through the air, fluttering to the floor like tired birds," Ms. Van Doren writes in "Playing the Field," the passage to be read by Melissa Hurst..."

THE NEW YORK TIMES
"Show business meets schadenfreude, as actors recite embarrassing, touching, salacious or jaw-droppingly clueless passages excerpted from celebrity autobiographies.  From A-list down, no one is safe..."

VILLAGE VOICE
"... the most fabulous new glitter-ary event in Gotham..."

NEW YORK POST
"...will leave you bedazzled by how plugged-in you are to New York's smart Alec scene... hilarious"

Experts stumped. Some times, questions are as good as the answers. To promote the "The Mother Load: Cause Celeb!," Monday's show at Fez featuring the talents of Charles Busch, Julie Haltson, Michael Musto, Cintra Wilson, Melissa Hurst, Carl Andress, Nancy Balbirer and Charlotte Booker, the producers sent out a sample of the sort of mysteries that might be solved that night.  We were stumped by both:  "Why did Britney's entire seven-member family stay in one NYC hotel room?

NEXT MAGAZINE
"And if your cup of tea is celebrity autobiographies, especially the ridiculous, self aggrandizing ones, you shouldn't dream of missing Cause Celeb!... Cause Celeb! is easily the most fabulous, new "must-see" of New York nightlife. With a cast of regulars and invited guest stars reading aloud from the most outrageous books ever published, it's dishy, bitchy and always hysterical."
